Information

We moved, cleaned, made decisions, and did some planning – and you were always there with us. And now it’s here! We would like to invite you to a festive and glittering celebration of the beginning of a new phase in our life. Although we still have a lot of work ahead, being far from finished, for the first time we will have our door wide open. To celebrate all that is behind us and the challenges that still await us. Theatre, performances, dance, and interventions in our new space, a fairy tale as well as workshops… in short: we will be ceaselessly moving! So, be there with us. This is a party for everyone who loves ALTA and Libeň, a party for everyone who craves a little sparkle.

Řev na hřišti & Studio Damúza: ZAHRÁTKY

Interactive theatre playground for children from 3 to 100 years old.

The more moles you have in your garden, the more gardener you are, or who sows the wind, reaps and storms, or a snail is a terrible servant and an even worse master!

Gardeners and musicians enter an open game and change its rules, and are unpredictable as the weather. Together with children, they become the creators of a story.

Zahrátky is open continuously.

Authors: the collective Řev na hřišti
(Vendula Tomšů, Honza Tomšů, Dorota Krátká, Adam Krátký, Anežka Heinzlová, Matěj Heinzl)

The Řev na hříšti collective consists of three young families – artist couples – who have reached a new stage in their lives with the birth of their children. They want to explore how to continue creating in this new situation and how their own offspring can be involved in their art making. Together we examine events with elements of theatre, site-specific performance, happening, and concert.

Šrámy/ la débattue
live performance (work in progress)
What is remembrance?
What do we and what do our bodies hold from different stories of life?
How can the history of pain be transposed through generations? How can we speak about this pain?
Šrámy/ la débattue is a site specific research combining circus, physical theatre and visual art. Exploring different spaces and playing with stones and ropes, Stéphanie NDuhirahe investigates her own family history and questions the visible and invisible marks that some historic events may have left on her. Šrámy also talks about the process of healing and recovery through talking and sharing.

Markéta Stránská & Jean Gaudin: …Or to Be

film

The dance film …Or to Be brings to the stage three characters caught in a triangle of emptiness, fear, and loneliness. It is a caricature of passing, a pressing testimony about one’s inability to step out of stereotypes, to let go of hysteria and at least get a little closer to oneself.

The video installation / dance film by director Stéphanie N’Duhirah was created based on a production of the same name by Czech performer Markéta Stránská and French dancer and choreographer Jean Gaudin. As a result, the work introduces three “solos” – characters who are unaware of each other and who can be connected to each other only by the spectator who can see them together. The audience can witness this ‘non-meeting’ and imagine what would have happened if the characters could see each other. The film is a peculiar and even comical conception of an oppressive emptiness that the contemporary society is subjected to while being accompanied by constant communication and endless layering of experiences.

The film examines the concept of emptiness and ambivalent feelings we experience within ourselves and around us when we feel lonely or insufficiently utilised. The authors offer three points of view using three different characters who search for their own way to cope with the intrusive environment. Should they act on their urges and fill it with everything that’s available or should they accept it and appreciate it as an inherent part of every moment?

Screenplay, editing, direction: Stéphanie N’Duhirahe

Theme: Markéta Stránská, Jean Gaudin, Stephanie N’Duhirahe

Choreography, interpretation: Jean Gaudin, Markéta Stránská, Papír

Lighting design: Zuzana Režná

Debora St.: Traces of Human Presence – Brewery

site-specific installation

Being in the spaces of the past, we affect the future. What if I change your path here and now? The memory of a place, the living thing that has already left, and what remains is a mystery until we start figuring it out.

Site-specific installation and research based on the artist’s long-term interest in the nature of our behaviour in (public) space.

An intimate experience when viewers discover fragments of the past through the space and objects in it.

Performed by: Debora Štysová, Mara Ingea, Marie Anna Václavek Krušinová

Sound: Vi Huyen Tran

Deborah St. je is a member of the group Lovable Humans.

Let’s start with music, ubiquitous beat, and shape some energy. We vibrate through space. We can shine through the entire space. We can be silver, purple, gold-green, and sparkle like stardust. We charge our hearts with rhythm. It could be a spectacular party. ALTA is reborn in a community.
