Performative Game

Where are you? How do you feel here? What do you perceive? Any particular memories or associations arising? How would you describe this place, here, right now?

Urban Senses is a group game, an expedition to seek out secrets within our environment like any other. At a selected location, we roll the dice, follow instructions and come closer to what is actually happening around us. By slowing down and focusing our perception, the encounter with seemingly ordinary surroundings is experienced anew. Urban Senses is an attempt to discover the miracles under the skin of the profane, including the ugly and the surprisingly beautiful.

Audience participation

Matthew Rogers is curious about the dances that naturally emerge from physical practices of (Self) care.
That curiosity leads me backwards away from the question, not forwards. What practices actually care for the Self? How do I measure if the Self is cared for? Where do I turn to inquire on the Self’s honest satisfaction?
There are many answers and they do not lead in a linear direction. It’s a very active and dynamic reflection on productivity, truth, the unknown, subjective reality, co-creating and responsibility.
When I take time and turn my attention towards the practice of care, pleasure becomes accessible in the body. And suddenly there comes a desire to share with others.
My work the last years is about innovating formats to bring audience closer to their experience of Self through participation and moving into the unknown together.
