Guided tour of David Kumermann’s exhibition – Libeň
Guide: Simeon Hudec

Start at the New Libeň Synagogue, end at ALTA

David Kumermann’s photo exhibition, presented in shop windows and public spaces along the Rokytka, portrays Libeň through the eyes of a photographer who has been observing the neighborhood for over 20 years. Selected from thousands of images, the photos highlight everyday moments and people’s relationship to the place they live. The city is not just a backdrop but an active participant. The photos shift between documentary and poetry – locals may read them as a chronicle, while visitors can enter into the story of this ever-changing urban landscape.

Bumbrle (acoustic solo)

Velký Mlýn

A Libeň singer-songwriter, performing solo without his band. The Stoned to Death label describes him: “He follows in the tradition of Wabi Daněk or Pavel Bobek, evoking the unknown romance of the West through well-crafted songs – without sounding ironic or presenting something that isn’t truly his own.”

19:00

Kazatel: Přemysl Pitter (theatre)

New Libeň Synagogue

Přemysl Pitter – Protestant preacher, humanist, educator, and above all a man who found the courage to act in the face of the 20th century’s upheavals. Immediately after WWII, despite some Czechs seeking revenge on German inhabitants, he and his friends launched “Operation Castles,” providing humanitarian aid to Jewish, Czech, and German children alike.

This performance brings fragments of his life, thought, and work into the synagogue space. It speaks of love for one’s enemy, courage, solidarity, and the moral steadfastness of the individual. Created by Krajinou přílivu together with Memory of Nations (Paměť národa) Theatre.

Discussion: Jewish Solidarity with Palestine & the Language of Protest / SVĚTOVA 1

Studio ALTA Garden

What role do Jewish organizations and individuals play in showing solidarity with Palestine? And what does it mean when someone, as a Jew, publicly supports Palestinians? This discussion focuses on the visibility and positioning of Jewish voices within protest movements and cultural contexts opposing violence against Palestinians and criticizing Israeli state policy.

We’ll also reflect on symbolic gestures: Palestinian flags, keffiyehs, slogans like “Not in our name” or “From the river to the sea,” and why some of these are seen as controversial or even dangerous. We’ll discuss legal and institutional frameworks that shape what can be said or displayed, and how these boundaries influence public space and cultural institutions.

19:30–20:30

Cyrkulárka Collective: Tapestry Opening / Documentary Premiere

Studio ALTA Garden

We wander around Libeň and listen. A documentary gathers fragments of stories, memories, and relationships holding the neighborhood together – gradually forming a Neighborhood Tapestry. A textile image. Shared memory. Mosaic of voices.

This summer we recorded stories of those connected to Libeň – residents, workers, or passersby who left a trace. Their memories reveal the invisible threads linking places, people, and times.

Cyrkulárka emerged from friendships at UMPRUM. The collective explores public space, urban communities, and the layered images that shape our surroundings.

20:00–22:00

Storytelling by the Fire

Podzámčí (space between Velký Mlýn and Studio ALTA)

Let’s light a fire, watch the flames, and listen to magical, playful, sometimes spooky or fairy-tale stories performed by professional storytellers from Storytelling CZ.

Storytelling revives a deeply rooted tradition – both a natural human activity and an art form. Listening to stories means learning to listen to our surroundings and awakening imagination.

The fire is lit at dusk, and the stories begin right after.
