This interactive workshop aims to engage artists, creatives, and cultural workers in an exploration of alternative economies within the cultural world. Through immersive role-playing scenarios, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how non-traditional economic models can be applied to sustain and promote artistic work.
Participants will be introduced to various real-world organisations and initiatives employing alternative economic models (mainly within the arts), such as gift economy, time banking, community currency, cooperative governance and blockchain-based art platforms.
Participants will be introduced to various real-world organisations and initiatives employing alternative economic models (mainly within the arts), such as gift economy, time banking, community currency, cooperative governance and blockchain-based art platforms.
Through role-playing exercises, participants will embody different stakeholders within the art ecosystem, including artists, curators, cultural managers, funders, and audiences. They will navigate scenarios that challenge traditional economic norms and encourage creative problem-solving.
Facilitated discussions will follow each role-play session, allowing participants to reflect on their experiences, share insights, and critically analyze the implications of the alternative economic model they are facilitating.
The scenarios work independently, participants can visit one or two or all of them, based on their interests and time capacities. The workshops will be facilitated in English and have maximum capacity of 12 people. No prior knowledge about alternative economies is needed.
