This peer-2-peer (P2P) workshop aims to engage artists, creatives, and cultural workers in an exploration of alternative economic notions for an art scene. Through immersive role-playing scenarios, we will gain a deeper understanding of how non-traditional economic models can be applied to promote a healthier artistic ecosystem.
Through role-playing exercises, participants will explore the relationship between currency and social values, the manner in which community currencies incentivise circulation and fair negotiation power. In the games we will embody different stakeholders such as artists, curators, cultural managers, funders, and audiences to “play-out” the different existing and potential interdependencies within this community. We will navigate scenarios that challenge traditional economic norms and encourage creative problem-solving.
Facilitated discussions will follow each role-play session, allowing us to reflect on the experiences, share insights, and critically analyze the implications of the economic models we explore.
The scenarios work independently, participants can visit one or two or all of them, based on their interests and time capacities. The workshops will be facilitated in English and have maximum capacity of 12 people. No prior knowledge about alternative economies is needed.
