Information

Studio Performance Art (SPA) will present the work of artist and curator Syinat Zholdosheva from Kyrgyzstan and performer-researcher Batu Bozoglu from Turkey, who have been part of the residency program at MeetFactory since the beginning of May. SPA and MeetFactory AIR have been working together since last year and jointly invite artists engaged in performance art to residencies, thus enriching the already established program for visual creators. Attention during the selection is focused, among other things, on the inclusion of artistic approaches from non-European countries, especially from West and Central Asia, and the creation of longer-term partnerships with local institutions.

Participating artists: Syinat Zholdosheva, Batu Bozoglu

Curators: Antonín Brinda, Petr Dlouhý

Partners: MeetFactory AIR, Bishkek School of Contemporary Art (BiSCA), Perform Istanbul

BATU BOZOGLU

Batu Bozoglu’s artistic practice is focusing on interactive and participatory artworks within the field of performance art. His works aim to invoke critical discussion on the politics of participation in their form, while investigating trauma and human response in coping and expressing it in their function.

As a continuation of his research on civilian trauma during the World Wars, Batu will present a participatory performance with a custom made game that will be played with the audience, made not to forget, but instead to remember this time. The game is based on his research of Terezin Getto, where arts and crafts played a large role in the struggle for morale.
