Information

Every end is a new beginning. Every progress transforms into something else. The award-winning performance Bodies in Progress by Martina Hajdyla Lacová is now irreversibly a part of history. Now, the bodies of Martina and her daughter experience progress separately—each in her own way. The project Bodies After Progress is an experiment that attempts the impossible: to bridge past and present, and to pause time for a moment. It is about being side by side—together and apart.

Who supports whom?

A solo dance becomes a duet, yet the number of performers does not change.

The artistic platform ME-SA

has been active in the independent dance scene since 2008. Its current work is defined by interdisciplinary collaboration (visual arts, sports, music, virtual reality) and an experimental creative approach that includes research of movement material, visual dramaturgy, conceptual strategy, and the deconstruction of theatrical methods. In recent years, the platform has focused on feminine themes.

The central artistic figure and common denominator of all ME-SA projects is choreographer, dancer, and performer Martina Hajdyla Lacová. In her work, she uses dance as a concept, as a means of communication and interaction, and as a natural movement of human bodies. In 2015, she was awarded Dancer of the Year for her performance in SuperNaturals. For her solo performance One of the Seven, she was nominated for the 2016 Thalia Award. In 2023, she received the Czech Centres Award for her performance in SOFT SPOT, and in 2024, she was awarded the Thalia Award in the Alternative Theatre category for Bodies in Progress.
