The project with the working title “Folklore” is based on folk culture and traditions from the Balkans, especially Bulgarian folk dance. This project examines the possibilities for maneuvering to express diverse facets of sexuality in an accentuated, heteronormative culture of tradition. How will a queer body navigate through established traditions and cultural affairs, in an attempt to create a new folk dance that accommodates more naturalness, and which more people get to take part in and feel at home with?. How can folk traditions and folk dance once again unite, though under new and modern terms?.
