Information

In 2023 Studio ALTA is moving to a new location – the neighbourhood of Palmovka and Libeň. By relocating our activities we’re also shifting our attention– from the depths of our reflections to the surfaces of who and how we are. We’re mapping our own situatedness, how and whom we impact, and we search for paths to new alliances.

This year’s first show is presented by Studio ALTA in collaboration with the gallery and art space SVĚTOVA 1. Through a mini-series of events entitled HOW WE ARE, we observe what’s happening on the surface of our reality. We want to know where we’re standing, how we’re doing, what relationships and friendships we’re involved in, what emotions we bring to the shared space of events, what are our needs here and now… we look for a close connection between art and the daily life as we experience it in the stormy waters of the ongoing crisis and changes.

Each evening will open with “a reality check-in,” a format featuring encounters and talks with invited guests followed up by a dance performance.

Immersing ourselves into the surfaces…

…letting our experiences bubble

KATEŘINA SZYMANSKI (COLLECTIVE WAVES) & FERTILIZER: UNDER THE SURFACE
There is no hierarchy between us and our process, only the conditions we find ourselves in. Biotope. A post-mining syndrome of temporary pleasures and illusionary feelings of happiness doesn’t allow us to be together. UTS is a hybrid project experimenting with modes of collaboration. HOW to be, rather than WHAT to be. An event that begins prior to your arrival, ending long after you leave.

EVGENIA CHETVERTKOVA [de]: SURFACE
SURFACE is considering the body as a landscape with [A4] movements, textures, and sounds… Or as a minefield of meanings where the smallest change could cause a chain reaction of thoughts and emotions. Evgenia Chetvertkova brings to the spotlight the relationship between the performer’s body and audiences’ perspectives, and questions its dynamics, allocation of power and opportunities for mutual influence.

SVĚTOVA 1
SVĚTOVA 1 is a nonprofit artist-run space focusing on emerging, queer and social matters. Our exhibitions and public programmes reflect our mission of being a radically inclusive platform that, while maintaining sustainable processes, acts as a refuge for those in need.  INFORMATION FOR VISITORS

Pay What You Can

In 2021 all events at Studio ALTA were free. In 2022 we are introducing a new pricing system – Pay What You Can – which will allow you to choose to pay for your ticket an amount you can afford.

Tickets for each event now feature a suggested amount, giving you access to performances at ALTA for a lower price. Great! If you can pay more, you will help others pay less. We don’t wish to judge nor stigmatise but create a space for mutual solidarity and make culture accessible.

The Pay What You Can system is inspired by similar systems used by Theater, Atelier 210 in Belgium, and Battersea Arts Centre in London.

TICKETS 17. 2.

TICKETS 18. 2.

The recommended entrance fee for one day is CZK 200. If you already know that you will come for both days, the recommended price for you is CZK 150. However, the final amount is up to you. Pay what you can.
