All Portuguese holidays and celebrations include good food and drink. On Friday evening, you will taste grilled sardines in the garden of Studio ALTA and have a glass of Portuguese wine. There will also be other specialties from Lusophone countries to choose from.

18h Vilas: Nature in Contrast

Vilas comes from the town of Beja in the Alentejo region in southern Portugal. As he himself says, he can express his feelings much better through drawings than words. He draws paintings with a ballpoint pen with black ink and prefers to work in busy cafes. The exhibition entitled “Nature in Contrast” is inspired by the author’s native landscape. The drawings depict scenes from pure nature and the idyllic countryside, where one feels free.

The author will take part in the opening of the exhibition held on Friday from 6 pm. The drawings will be exhibited on Friday, October 2, and on Saturday, October 3, in the Obývák.

20h mema.

During the musical performance of the Portuguese artist, the audience is first fooled by the illusion of austerity. However, the seemingly minimalist vocals and sound of the guitar blend into an explosive mix of synthesizers, loops and traditional Portuguese musical instruments such as adufe, Portuguese guitar and flute, which mix with the hustle and bustle of modern times. mema. introduces its listeners to music created by the deconstruction of folk and its encounter with electro-indie and pop music.

Composer, guitarist and singer mema. was born in Aveiro, where she graduated from the conservatory. Shortly afterwards, she embarked on a solo career and gained experience abroad, living in Berlin and Dublin. Her best-known singles include “O Devedor”, “Outro Lado” and “Perdi o Norte”.

The concert is organized in cooperation with the Portuguese Cultural Association d’Orfeu Associação Cultural and the music project OuTonalidades – circuito português de música ao vivo.

10:30h Ana Pêgo: Plasticus maritimus, invasive species

As a child, the Portuguese Ana Pêgo loved to play on the beach and found that the sea and the oceans hide not only beautiful animals and fossils but also an invasive species. When she grew up and became a marine biologist, she decided to name it Plasticus maritimus. She also wrote a book of the same name about this contaminating species, the translation of which into Czech was published this year by the publishing house jakost.

During Saturday morning, Ana will lead a workshop for children, the topic of which will be the more prudent use of plastics and the creative use of plastic waste. For more information, contact us info@institutocamoes-praga.cz.

They get to know the colors and textures of leaves, twigs and fruits. Come and discover nature as a place for children’s games and inspiration for storytelling in Portuguese.

16h Roda de samba

As in the case of jazz jam sessions, all the musicians and dancers can join the “roda de samba” if they want. Let yourself be carried away by the captivating Brazilian atmosphere.

20h SENZA

The SENZA concert will bring an original fusion of lusophone rhythms. In addition to tones from Portuguese-speaking countries, Catarina Duarte and Nuno Caldeira, both from Aveiro, are also influenced by the music they encounter on the road. During their career, since 2016, they have performed on more than 80 stages around the world. The secret of the success of their music is in the intensity with which they experience their journeys and in their devoted passion for music. The duo SENZA has so far released two albums: “Antes da Monção” and “Praia da Independência”.

21:30h DJ Baptista

The program of the Lusófona festival will close with an evening party with DJ Baptista, who comes from Portugal, but has been at home on the Prague club scene for a few years now. His selection of rhythms from Portuguese-speaking countries will certainly entertain the audience.
