Information

In search of the lost body is a labyrinthique performance about life, death, cycles and new beginnings. This collective creation signed by the artists Alexandra Bălășoiu, Cristina Lilienfeld, Cosmin Manolescu, Valentina De Piante that was created in the fall of 2021 is a unique, intimate and emotional experience that talks about the bodies that we lost and (re)found during/ after the pandemic time.

The performance was presented until now in different versions at the AREAL space, National German Theatre in Timișoara and recently in July 2023 in a public garden of the Danza Urbana festival organised by AREAREA dance company from Udine (Italy). The performance will be presented in premiere in Prague on October 15, part of Studio Alta & AREAL residency exchange program.

In search of the lost body is an artistic project in which we went on a cathartic journey starting from an archive – body and the shifts of physicality and emotions that we gathered during our lives as performers. In the beginning we came into contact with each other’s practices, we improvised, we asked each other questions, we became sculptures, we played with haikus, danced at sunrise, practiced butoh at night among the sculptures and danced with the map of visible/invisible signs within us. Infusing each other with a flash of proposals gave birth to a multilayered body that crystallized in discontinuous structures.

The Pandemic emphasized the possibility of stopping for a moment and this is one of the concepts that we want to bring with In search of the lost body: a pause, a place of honest reflection, where repressed potential meets the right environment and it can flourish.

We create the present moment and invite people to join us in an intimate artistic journey.
