Information

Ice as a stage, ice as a theme. For four days in January, we are moving Studio ALTA to a temporary ice rink!

The first evening, titled SURFACES, will let the movements of contemporary dance and figure skating mingle and watch how they complement and influence each other. Can you hear it? The second icy evening will feature GLISSANDO, a collective sound composition created just while we skate. On the third day, ice will be the theme for us. We will focus on the current state of glaciers in the ANTARCTIDA, and the intersection of science and art. The four nights on the ice will end with a neighborly BANQUET where everyone can bring a piece of their treat to share with others.

Moving from the ice rink to indoors. Ah, the feeling when you take your skates off after two days!

Do you also have that insistent question in your head? What does a public ice rink in the middle of a warm city make you think of? An ice surface for play and rest as a thematization of the ice itself and its disappearance from where it belongs. A sensitive performance and discussion with ice researchers.
