The aim of this workshop is not only to introduce the basic technologies of lighting design, but to present the possibilities of conceptual work with lights and lighting designers.

The first part of the workshop is dedicated to different attributes of light and its visual perception. We will both discuss in theory and show in practice, how we can use different physical phenomena in art works. We will explore temperature, intensity and color of light, as well as contrasting brightness or timing of changeovers. We will present technologies that are often not used entirely.

In the second part, we will explore the possibilities of communication in the creative team. How should we talk about light, so that everybody understands our vision? How can we cooperate with technicians effectively and formulate our requirements and ideas?

Both technical and communication skills will be used in the creative part of the workshop, where participants will work in small groups on a simple project.
