HOUSE OF FOCUS 2027
With the opening of the newly reconstructed space in a former brewery, Studio ALTA launches a new residency programme, House of Focus, in 2027. We are looking for projects in an advanced stage of development – with a clear concept, a defined vision of the final form, and basic production support in place.
House of Focus offers a ten-day residency designed for intensive work, with the aim tobring the project towards its premiere. The programme creates conditions for a focused creative process, while also allowing space for experimentation, exploring new approaches, and sharing the work-in-progress with both professionals and the public – for example in the form of a workshop or a work-in-progress presentation.
🔴 STUDIO ALTA provides:
– space for the entire artistic team
– 5 days of rehearsal in a suitable rehearsal space
– 5 days in the theatre with full technical support
– artist fee of 50,000 CZK
– production and PR support for the final output
– presentation within the Studio ALTA programme (guarantee of 5 performances)

HOUSE UNDER THE STARS
(August 2026)
House Under the Stars is intended for a performative artistic project that takes place in the public space and is conceived directly for, or adapted to, outdoor locations in Libeň and its surroundings. In 2026 we plan to open our theatre; at the same time, we want to continue supporting art in public space and to strengthen our connection with the Libeň neighbourhood.
Projects that are already in development as well as those in early stages of creation are eligible to apply. The residency is primarily planned for August 2026, when Studio ALTA has ideal capacities available for your project. By agreement, the residency period can also be spread across other months.
A condition of the residency is a premiere or a public work-in-progress presentation in public space at the end of the residency.

STUDIO ALTA PROVIDES:
–project fee of CZK 30,000
– residency lasting 14–30 days (with the possibility of being divided according to the specific needs of the project)
– dramaturgical support from the team during project development
– production / implementation consultations throughout the residency
– technical consultation (this does not include a dedicated light/sound designer exclusively assigned to the project)
– PR consultation (including support of the project on our social media)
– 7 days of technical and production support in the final phase of the project
– rehearsal space and indoor facilities at Studio ALTA or facilities of local partner organisations, depending on the needs of the residency and space availability; however due to the nature of the residency, outdoor spaces are provided primarily
– possible networking with Studio ALTA’s partner organisations

HOUSE OF RESEARCH
(27 April – 7 May 2026)
House of Research is a residency programme conceived as a shared space and laboratory for three artistic projects or individual artists and their research. It is primarily intended for processes in the early phases of exploration, experimentation and material creation.
It offers the possibility of deeper immersion into (or, conversely, stepping back from) artistic research and functions as a tool for discovering new layers of one’s own artistic practice.
It is also possible to enter the House of Research with an already completed work (performance, installation, object, video, etc.) and focus on reopening it and transforming it into another form. For example, exploring ways to turn a performance into a workshop, text, performance-lecture, etc.
The House of Research offers its guests access to a shared studio, space for individual work, and facilitated meetings focused on the exchange of knowledge and practices within the group.
A public outcome of the research in the form of a work-in-progress presentation is required. Its exact form will be based on the needs and wishes of the participants.

HOUSE OF REST
(March–November 2026)
House of Rest is a five-day residency retreat intended for colleagues working in the arts who feel overloaded, under pressure from constant production, or who are simply looking for a zone of calm for their own thoughts. The House of Rest can become a reason to slow down, recalibrate one’s practice, a space for idleness and care, a vacuum.
The space and resources dedicated to the House of Rest are intended primarily for colleagues from the arts sector. Applicants must work (primarily or partially) in fields such as production, dramaturgy, curating, PR, technical and other supportive artistic professions, and be active (primarily or partially) in the independent sector in the Czech Republic.
Two participants will be selected in total, with at least one place reserved for a person working in Slovakia.
The final location and specific dates of the House of Rest will be determined by mutual agreement with the selected participants. It can take place in nature or in the city, close to one’s home or on the other side of the country.
The residency is not conditioned by any output or participation in any activities.
Guests of the House of Rest will be selected by lottery, as it is not for us—or anyone else—to decide who needs rest more and who less. We all need it.
