Negative impacts of mining activities intertwine with nature as well as human lives. This project aims to point out concrete impacts the activities have had in the area of German Gatzen (near Leipzig) and open a dialogue, both on local and global level – are we ready for it? It is important to ask questions. How many of us really take time to think about where our energy sources come from, as we take it for granted at least here within the European context. Are we willing to give up the advantages of our civilisation to the benefit of our planet? Both the geological processes and the power game take place discretely, we do not notice at first yet they are happening. Under the Surface invites audiences into a space to build a relationship and together try to heal a post-mining syndrome. This live performance project is based on organic nature of human body, nature and the landscape.
A team of creators from a various backgrounds creates the diversity needed for dialogue in a broader context. They are united by landscapes of rhythm structures, visuality, communication and a long-standing interest in social issues and natural processes. The engine of ,,ras Spielraum&Collective Waves” are Kateřina Szymanski – performer, dancer, visual artist, researcher and Kristýna Svobodová – performer, activist, environmentalist.
