A durational artistic and relational intervention. Rooted in the acknowledgment that we as cultural practitioners and human peoples are part of an intricate, interconnected network of relationships, in which everything we do matters, or as E.M.Namgyel puts it – “everything leans”. This intervention will invite to individually and collectively explore these questions:

– who are we leaning with or what constitutes our ecosystems?

– what choices we make in a world where everything leans?

– how this informs our purposes (the whys), our relationships and ways of working and “doing” culture?

It consists of a 3 hour workshop on May 27 facilitated by Liene Jurgelane, and small pop-up interventions throughout the conference days, facilitated by Mads Peter, Vivian and Rafel.

Liene Jurgelāne
Facilitator, cultural practitioner, mentor, and social anthropologist.
Focuses her practice on exploring the relationships between community, leadership, culture, well-being, and environment. Creates and holds learning and ritual spaces that invite people to (re)connect with themselves and others and practice living in more life-enhancing ways. She has almost 15 years of experience as a facilitator and has worked with artists, activists, cultural collectives and institutions across Europe. Liene is also one of the co-founders of the educational collective new visions, based in Berlin. Prior to new visions, she was part of the team running Kanepes Culture Centre, worked with performing arts, and co-organised festival Komēta. She lives in Aarhus since 2021, continuing work with new visions, developing Willow House – a learning hub for ecological awareness, mentoring women in culture, and supporting the development of Institut for (X) as a working strategist.

Vivian Madsen
International project organiser and community weaver at Institut for (X).
A platform midwife, who helps sprout cultural platforms. Obsessed with vacant spaces and action towards placing the fabrication of cities in the hands of people. Passionate about Peer-2-Peer network of cultural platforms around Europe – her work in the International Department of (X) allows her to mobilize and connect across borders Wildstyle cultural entrepreneur and project-maker since 2016 – process design and facilitation with diploma from Hyper Island since ‘19 – previously daily management of, the now bulldozed, B-house – as well as coordinating the temporary project and citylife experiment, Bassin 7. From Padowan to vice chairperson – now working as a coordinator and developer of various projects and strategies within the realm of (X).

Mads Peter Laursen
Daily leader of (X) focusing on nurturing the people and the land, with a big love of making social habitats as a form of artistic intervention.
Committed, and happy. Has been project manager for Bureau Detours for the last 20 years. Circulating architecture, design, art and social associations of people. The process is never linear. Facilitate and enhance cultural activities, combining artistic creativity with entrepreneurship, public debates and public education. It is a dynamic organisation and a laboratory for urban experiments, where initiatives grow organically. The goal is to be happy and constantly evolving.

Rafael van der Schaar (Hendriks)
Architect at Institut for (X).
As an architect at (X), I have specialised in a few architectural fields like: Transformative, Temporary, Social, Democratic, Sustainable and Co-created Architecture. I always try to pursue and pressure to create spaces and communities that are as socially and personally transformative as they are functional and beautiful. We are within the field of art and creation, architects must relate, create, innovate, and delegate.
