Information
The House of Research has become an established part of the ways Studio ALTA supports artistic development. This year, it hosted three artists coming from different parts of the world, each with their own unique approaches to creation.
For twelve days, they shared a common workspace, focused on their individual projects, and exchanged insights into how to approach artistic research.
The final outcome is a collaborative event prepared in cooperation with Studio ALTA’s program team. It offers a formal experiment in presenting artistic research and serves as an open invitation to explore a variety of artistic practices.
Participating artists: Angela Nwagbo, Jeries Abu Jaber, Lokke Wurm
Curators: Orin Rodriguez, Roman Poliak, Tobiáš Nevřiva, Alica Minar

ANGELA NWAGBO (CZ)
Her artistic practice focuses on ethnic and cultural identity, particularly in relation to people of mixed heritage, like themselves. Through physical theatre, dance, storytelling, fashion, and music, she explores themes of belonging, racial dynamics, and the challenges that mixed-race individuals face when navigating Czech society. Her work aims to bridge two fields—anthropological research and the performing arts. Both often confined to specific spaces and social bubbles, she is passionate about connecting these worlds to democratize knowledge and foster deeper understanding.
JERIES ABU JABER (PAL)
A Palestinian artist skilled in the art of scenography since 2014. As an actor and performer, he consistently strives to collaborate with artists and teams both locally and internationally, relying on the exchange of cultures and experiences to enrich his artistic journey. He worked as a medical clown for eight years, engaging with children, elderly people, and individuals with disabilities. Currently based in Prague, he is continuing his academic journey by pursuing a master’s degree in “Directing of Devised and Object Theatre” at DAMU. Through this, he continues to explore the essence and impact of art, adding a philosophical and intellectual dimension to his artistic career and aesthetics.
LOKKE WURM (GER)
Lokke Wurm (they/them) is a trained clown (School for Clowns, Mainz /Germany) and physical theatre performer (Atelier for Physical Theatre, Berlin). Their work revolves around transformation, exploring the grotesque, transgression, and failure to challenge audience perceptions. Blending clowning with Butoh, object theatre, pantomime, and dance, Lokke uses their own body as both material and medium. As a non-binary Russian-German artist, they embrace “in-betweenness,” with the clown acting as a bridge
between worlds. Their practice emphasizes collective creation and audience interaction as a ritual of mutual transformation. Humor, both complex and unifying, remains central to their artistic exploration.
