What has happened with craft?

What is the position of craft within our education system?

Can craft be considered an art activity?

That’s the scope of the lecture by Ondřej Suchan.

We will discuss what craft activities have to offer for general and art education at elementary schools. We will also consider a general approach to craft, and how it is perceived by the public and professionals. 

The lecture will be accompanied by examples from a present-day education practice. 

Ondřej Suchan is a PhD candidate at the Department of Art Education at Charles University in Prague. He also works as an art and hands-on activities teacher at elementary and secondary schools and as a cabinetmaker and restorer.
