CALL ALICE is an audio installation conceived as a remediation – a transcription of the dance production of the same name. An installation CALL ALICE was conceived as a monodrama, but it created the illusion of a dialogue between two women, as the voice of one of the absent women represented the entire living persona.
It provides an insight into creative work during the coronavirus pandemic when performing arts had partially moved online. And so did the Czech dancer Tereza Ondrová and her Italian colleague Francesca Foscarini. From March to December 2020 they worked on their new dance piece, “IN BE-TWEEN.” Without time spent together in a rehearsal room, they worked instead mostly online, each in their own apartment, in their own city, in their own rehearsal room. The audio installation is thus a message not only about their project, but also about performing arts as such – dance art in the time of all things digital, great uncertainty, from a distance. Other themes this short audio installation explores is who is Tereza and who is Francesca and what was behind their collaboration.
