RespondART 2017 or How do we perceive devised theatre?

A part of Studio ALTA’s mission is to present original and pioneering performances. But what does it mean to watch such a performance? Is dance able to convey not only feelings, but also distinct ideas? Is it possible to translate the physicality of dance into words without eviscerating meaning?

The RespondART project searches for answers to these questions. This series of physical performances is followed by discussions with artists and spectators. The aim of these discussions is to develop the performance´s reception beyond simple consumption. Words, physical action, and interaction can help us reveal more meanings of the piece, challenge our own self-awareness and develop social and communal relationships.

During the RespondART weekend, we will observe three different performances and discuss their reception. Come and enjoy the performances, experience them and keep in mind how these pieces transmit ideas. Find out how attentive perception can affect your thoughts, decisions, and everyday life.
