After just under ten years of intensive work in the cultural sector, I decided to take a sabbatical as a way of slowing down. I feel that my work forces me to experience several parallel realities: constantly being in the future, planning, and continually creating new frameworks and projects for myself and others; whilst at the same time having one foot in the past. Looking back at what has happened, archiving, maintaining continuity in my activities. The present seems to be fading away, and with it the certainty that everything is still manageable. Anything that isn’t planned seems to have no place in my reality.
For me, the sabbatical has become a space for reassessing priorities and a way to anchor myself in what is truly important: deep relationships with my closest friends, the enthusiasm and joy of organising events, creativity in finding solutions, and the conviction that a fairer world is possible and that art can play an important role in it. To be available and thus able to respond to changes, crises and the needs of others.
During the workshop, I’d like to guide us through a few specific tools that I use to resist both external and internalised pressures. To become aware of the strategies each and every one of us already carries within us, and where and how to seek support that isn’t just another project in disguise. How to continue the work we believe in without losing our footing.
We’ll work in small groups, listen and share, and take a little time to relax. Before the workshop, you’ll receive a short form to help me tailor the programme more effectively.
Duration: 150 mins / The workshop will be held in Czech / Trigger warning: the topic relates to burnout / Parents with children are welcome to attend the workshop

Petr Dlouhý works as a curator and facilitator within the independent performing arts scene. Between 2021 and 2024, he was a member of the artistic team at Studio ALTA, where he was responsible for developing new presentation formats, making the organisation more accessible, and organising activities aimed at developing artistic practices. In addition, he has been working with Anna Chrtková since 2019 as a curator of the interdisciplinary series Y Events. He offers tarot readings as a means of (self-)reflection on artistic and institutional processes and is part of the experimental educational programme TENT PhD*. In collaboration with Marika Smreková, he has been developing the Parent-Friendly Culture initiative for accessible culture for parents since 2023.
His work is characterised by an emphasis on the values of care, curiosity and the long-term creation of support networks. He is interested in voices that are not usually heard, in shifting attention to unexpected places and in bringing people together.
