ANSWER_ring – a movement-based performance by Barbora Janáková, produced by mimoOs.
A visual and movement-based journey into a space where intimate expression meets collective experience. Two performers find themselves in an imaginary ring—not against each other, but against the questions that catch up with us all faster than we can formulate them.
Two remarkable performers meet on stage—an exceptional dancer and an authentic performer. Their distinct expressive worlds complement each other, clash, and create a tension that is both sensitive and physically powerful. It is precisely this contrast that allows the work to explore various layers of the questions it poses—from the intimate to the societal.
It is a struggle with uncertainty, the ecological crisis, the pressure to be socially engaged, exhaustion, and the longing for meaning. Here, silence turns into a cry, doubt into movement, and physical presence into a way of understanding a world that is constantly changing.
The work grew out of the need to speak about existence in an era that seems devoid of answers. We constantly ask ourselves whether we are engaged enough, whether we can do more, and whether it even matters when we are just one among many. The past has taught us many things, but its lessons quickly fade away in the fast pace of today. What remains is doubt, silence, and an urgent desire to change something.

mimoOs is an independent arts collective active in the fields of contemporary dance, dance theater, and education. It was founded in 2016 on the initiative of graduates from the Department of Dance at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava. It brings together artists across generations whose work is rooted in intensive engagement with the body, movement, and performance. mimoOs creates original projects both at home and abroad and actively shapes the contemporary dance scene.
The author of the performance, Barbora Janák, is a co-founder and statutory representative of mimoOs. She works as a choreographer, educator, dancer, and producer in the fields of contemporary dance, dance theater, and performance. In addition to her original projects NO ON and Metamorphosis, she has directed the movement for the productions Emily, Hlas, Diptych samoty, Klinika Betty Fordovej (NUDE), and Hey Pookie! (DJGT Zvolen, A. Vrzgula)
She has collaborated on mimoOs’s original projects presented at domestic and international festivals; she is the initiator of the educational project Telohra and a resident artist at TELOCVIČŇA/PlaSt.
