River Room unfolds in a multi-media landscape at Studio Alta. For the hour of the performance, the audience is invited to birdwatch, space out, focus on details, and test a spatial awareness of the nonhuman entities present (or not present.)

River Room is an impossible game to map an environment that is in motion, a fragment of the world in its becoming. This map is still but not static: it is quivering, flowing, spinning. If everything is moving where is here?

The performance takes place in a room in Prague, and Prague is conjured into this one room. The local flora and fauna, the cobblestones and the river, and you watching them are all woven together into a sequence of slow images that flow like a river. Under the surface, the fragments of the room are arranging and rearranging themselves into stories. Anything can be a bird if you are not careful.

Devised and performed by Eszter Koncz as her final piece at MA DOT, DAMU, Prague.

Pay What You Can

In 2021 all events at Studio ALTA were free. In 2022 we are introducing a new pricing system – Pay What You Can – which will allow you to choose to pay for your ticket an amount you can afford.

Tickets for each event now feature a suggested amount, giving you access to performances at ALTA for a lower price. Great! If you can pay more, you will help others pay less. We don’t wish to judge nor stigmatise but create a space for mutual solidarity and make culture accessible.

The Pay What You Can system is inspired by similar systems used by Theater, Atelier 210 in Belgium, and Battersea Arts Centre in London.
