From 4 to 10 July, Studio ALTA will be open as the 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁. In the course of seven days, we would like to share our studio as a temporary shelter with all those who feel fatigued, to offer an oasis for relaxation and create a space where we could together think about strategies that do not consider resting only as a means to even higher performance.

Facing an environment focusing on performance, rest is pushed away to lower levels of our priorities on the ladder of success. If we are allowed to rest (and if we are able to allow ourselves to rest), it often only fills in the very few empty slots in our schedule of work activities. In House of Rest, we want to think about the value of resting so that we are able to stand up for its significance at institutions, in front of our colleagues and ourselves. To share our experiences of pausing in moments when our inbox is overflowing with unresolved work tasks and the deadline to pay the rent approaches. What would actually happen if we go quiet for a week? Could taking a break become a means for resistance, and what can we learn from resting about ourselves and the environment in which we function?
The door of our House of Rest will be open each day from 15:00 until 21:00 (from 12:00 on weekends). The programme centres on uninterrupted resting in a room filled with blankets and pillows, accompanied by diverse practices and conversations that allow for a rest to be actively experienced and critically reflected on.

Each of you can contribute to the programme with any activity that relates to resting, such as exercising, collective dreaming, a discussion, lecture, ritual, sharing, a micro-performance, workshop…
Although the programme is not curated, each proposal should be consulted with the space facilitator, Petr Dlouhý.
If you are interested in participating, contact us at <> or +420 731 468 447 with a description of the proposed activity, date and time of duration, and you will be included in the programme.
Each activity is free of charge with a suggested donation (Pay What You Can). The collected amount will be distributed equally among all facilitators of the programme.
