Information

A series of open workshops. Performance Lab: movement, voice, text, improvisation, sharing, creative development, and stage sensitivity.

The workshop is designed as an open lab focused on spontaneous composition (dance improvisation). In a safe, semi-enclosed environment, it creates a space for encounter, play, sharing, and the development of creative skills. We work with movement, voice, and text. We focus on stage presence, the ability to listen, perceive, and react in real time. We emphasize quality, concentration, and playfulness. The workshop draws on the instructors’ long-term performative and pedagogical practice and their experience with somatic approaches and improvisation. It offers specific tools, prompts, and questions for creative work in an open, exploratory environment.
The workshop is intended for anyone with professional performance experience who wishes to test, deepen, and refine that experience, as well as for those seeking to gain such experience. Musicians playing any instrument who wish to refine their improvisation through movement are welcome.

The sessions are led by Mish Rais and Jana Novorytová in Czech and English.

Mish Rais and Jana Novorytová of the group Částečné znejistění have been collaborating since 2014. Together, they have created four original performances focused on participation, language, and improvised composition. They have performed dozens of times—from apartment events to site-specific projects. They have long been exploring ways to develop body awareness, presence, and creative movement. They also perform in Czech and international productions and, as co-directors of the CreWcollective group, are engaged in pedagogical and artistic research in the field of performance art. Both are also faculty members at DAMU and HAMU in Prague.
