How does the female body hold both fragility and power—its capacity to give life, to take life, to feel pleasure, and to challenge societal expectations? The Art of Life and Death is a dance solo that moves through these questions, exploring the intersection of the body, pleasure, nature, and cultural narratives. Through the lens of eco-sensuality, the piece invites a reconsideration of the stigmas surrounding female sensuality and the ways in which we are connected to the natural world, where we can actually be relieved of being ourselves, disappear for an ecstatic moment.
Born from deep encounters with the outdoors—moments spent among trees, fresh water, and open fields—the work emerges from a space of receptive sensitivity. The senses become a portal to knowing, to belonging, to experiencing a pleasure that dissolves the boundary between self and world. These encounters move, break the heart in detachment, fill with pleasure, cradle, offer rest, and welcome need. Ecstasy in beauty, vulnerability, and love unfolds – inviting movement with this tenderness, wildness and contradiction.
