Information

The project “Levitations” is the second film by choreographer Hana Polanská Turečková and painter Vladimír Houdek. During their cooperation, these artists create film or stage collages – combinations of paintings and dance which strive to define the relationship between the language of visual artistic rendering and movements of a body. In this work, Hana Polanská Turečková, in connection with the geometrically abstract but strongly symbolic paintings of Vladimír Houdek, attempts to analyze the choreographic work in relation to the abstract form of movement and space. In the historical context, she follows the concept of a body as a puppet that is strongly inspired by the mechanically mystical essay by Heinrich von Kleist titled On the Marionette Theatre (1810), which influenced the choreographic works of Michail Fokin, Oskar Schlemmer or Samuel Beckett – just to name a few.

Screening will be followed by a discussion with the artists and the entry is free!
