If you could build your own dream house, where would you start? What would a dream artistic venue look like? Would it feel like a home?
For this summer afternoon, the Attic Collective is going to turn the garden of ALTA into an imaginary house, for anyone to inhabit and interact with. When you flush the toilet, you activate a musical instrument. In the bathroom, there is a pool with water guns to cool yourself and others. A bedroom for naps and dreams. Slippers, door handles, a wardrobe, and a living clock. If you don’t like this house, there’s a real estate agency functioning in the office, so you can quickly purchase a new one. And if you get lost in all the rooms, a pigeon will guide you home.

The Attic is an assemblage of the artistic practices of 6 international artists who work across a range of fields. It is a shared imaginary playground: a method to curate, create and dream about spaces together.
We (Kirstine, Mara, Michal, Ping, Sai and Eszter) started this collaboration in 2023 when for a year we took care of Cross Attic, an artistic venue 129 steps up in the sky in Prague. During the year we spent in Cross Attic, we tried to shape this mysterious abandoned place into something welcoming and full of life. Now, after Cross Attic has closed, we are entering a new phase where the attic slowly turns from a specific site into a meshwork of ideas, methods, and projects that can be applied to any physical space we temporarily inhabit. We are starting an adventure of discovering new locations and creating site-specific events, to showcase an assemblage of installations and performances and host the local community in the form of workshops, discussions, and exchanges. Or maybe we are becoming buildings ourselves: with a shared dream of an attic on top of our heads.
