Information
Hartl defines shame as a reaction to a wrongdoing or breaking a rule. Zimbardo and Henderson list physiological symptoms of shame: fast heartbeat, dry mouth, perspiration. Shame has a broader psychological basis, we can distinguish sexual, moral and social shame. In order to feel shame, a confrontation of personal deficiency and society is necessary. Shame is related to the loss of competence, trust or embarrassment etc. Personal shame is always a moral shame, a shame for yourself.
The project was supported by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and it was created thanks to the summer residencies at theatres Studio ALTA and Divadlo Na Cucky.

RespondART is a year-long project of Studio ALTA in cooperation with theatres Alfred ve dvoře (Prague), Tanzfaktur (Cologne, Germany) and Brottfabrik (Bonn, Germany). During the project, these four theatres will show several socially engaged performances followed by discussions with the artists and experts on the presented subjects.
