Information

Spring is in full bloom and our walls and our garden are once again turning into a community space for meetings. From 29 to 30 April, we are opening Studio ALTA’ gates wide and launch our main season.

A two-day diverse programme will be accompanied by an exhibition of paintings by Michaela Petrů, Invalid Dreams, inspired by the Karlín environment and reflecting on a transformation of the neighborhood from a working-class to an area sought-after by developers. It will be open with a reception and remain on view until 22 May. A dance film,Markéta Stránská, Jean Gaudin: …Or to Be, will be featured on a loop within the two days. The work comprises of three ‘solos,’ three characters who do not know about each other and the only element that connects them is our spectator who can see them together.

The right amount of space will be dedicated to live performances. The group Holektiv will present their play Mass, opening on Friday with a second performance on Saturday. Foreign guests will be featured as well: Japanese Berlin-based butó dancer, Michyiasu Furutani, and performer Mo Van from Peru whose work, influenced by neo shamanism, provides visitors with a calming opportunity for finding a way to listen to one’s self. The concept of a ritual and the community atmosphere of our place will carry through to a closing evening conceived as a storytelling by campfire. Both days are also open to all parents with children – the programme is conceived in collaboration with the Město přátelské k dětem (City friendly to children).
