“I don’t want strangers to touch me on the subway. And yet I hope that if I were to fall one day, someone would come to me.”

Between the words of these sentences POINT OF TOUCH came to be. Not from a desire to celebrate closeness, nor from the belief that we can understand one another, but from a sense of doubt and the question of what it is within us that determines the moment another person begins to affect us. The performance weaves together documentary fragments, personal memories, imagination, and dance. It creates a space in which we can observe how human connections actually emerge.

During rehearsals, we shared stories with one another. Some were our own, some were retold, and some may not even have been true. Yet we discovered that, at times, this distinction no longer matters. What connects us does not erase all the differences between us. Perhaps what matters most is not touching another person, but remaining beside them for a while, without wanting to change them, save them, or fully understand them.

This performance is not intentionally political, yet it inevitably carries a political dimension. It searches for a way of coexisting without relying on the illusion of complete understanding. Alongside two dominant narratives of our time–“we are all essentially the same”, or “we are so different we can never understand one another” – it offers a third possibility: we do not have to agree in order to remain side by side.
